Arnaud Leroy

Founder & Editor at CoffeeTrove

Lisbon, Portugal

I started CoffeeTrove because I wanted a single place to find great coffee wherever I travel — not just a list of cafes, but real context about what makes each one worth visiting.

Background

I'm an independent developer and lifelong coffee lover based in Lisbon. Before CoffeeTrove, I built tools and platforms across media, data, and community products. Coffee has been a constant throughout — from daily pour-overs at home to exploring specialty cafes in every city I visit.

Lisbon's specialty coffee scene has been my home base for exploration. From there, I've expanded to Porto, London, Manila, Marseille, and beyond. Every city has its own coffee culture, and mapping those differences is what drives this project.

What I Do at CoffeeTrove

  • Curate and score cafes and roasters across cities
  • Research and write educational coffee content
  • Visit cafes in person for first-hand reviews and photography
  • Build the platform (design, engineering, data)
  • Maintain editorial standards and transparency

Editorial Approach

I believe coffee content should be honest and useful. Every guide, profile, and comparison on CoffeeTrove is researched and written to help people make better coffee decisions — whether that's choosing a brewing method, finding a cafe, or understanding an origin.

As I visit more cafes and taste more coffee, I layer in personal experience — tasting notes, photos, and observations that make the content richer. The knowledge base grows deeper with every city I explore.

Currently Exploring

I'm actively curating cafes in Lisbon, with plans to cover Porto, Madeira, London, Marseille, and Manila. If you run a cafe in any of these cities or want to contribute to CoffeeTrove, get in touch.
